Our Journey

Born and raised in the family of musical envirornment and living in the panoramic cradle of natural ambience of historic Kalka town in the foothills of Shivalik both the Kumar brothers, Anup Kumar and Hemant Kumar are the cultivated devout stage performers.  A graduate(vocal music) from Kurukshetra University,  Hemant sharpened his musical skill under the guidance of Prof.Amritpal Singh while Anup Kumar accomplished his vocal prowess from Pracheen Kala Kendra, Chandigarh. and from Prof.Murli Dhar Soni. Coupling their versatility in full measure right from the school days they carved a niche for themselves in the music realm with main stress on the devotional stream.  Hemant, though grounded in the classical tradition but his superlative competence encompassed other genres like Bhajans, Ghazals, folk music and even the film music. He had participated and won many awards at the festivals including the “Rafi Memorials”.

The duo had won the top prize in music competition by Tara TV channel and been selected for  the Star TV reality show Antakshari on the Star TV from the Chandigarh region.  But singing Bhajans and Sufiana kalams in the calm contemplation is their sincere obsession which they imbibed listening to the devotional lullabies from their pious mother.  The well known journalists of the region by profession and equally adored as Bhakti Sangeet maestros the Kumar Bandhu spell the abundant Bhakti ras always submerging the devotees in trance and eternal divine bliss.
Be it the muscal soiree for the oldage inmates of Old age home of sector 15 Chandigarh or the students of the Institute for the Blinds, the Kumar Bandhu have won acclaimed for propogating spiritual and humanistic values through their soulful music contributing to socio-cultural cause. Kumar Bandhu have performed for prestigious  organizations like Indian Council for Cultural Relations, North Zone Cultural Centre, Punjab Arts Council and Pracheen Kala Kendra

■ Performed in Dussehra Festival at Hamirpur Himachal Pradesh.
■ Performed in prestigious Geeta Jayanti Utsav at Kurukshetra (Haryana)
■ Performed in prestigious ‘Sinhastha Mahakumbh’ at Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh)
